Respooling plastic waste

FDM 3D printing inevitably creates waste: supports, color changes, failed prints. We want to recover that waste and turn it back into usable filament.

We want PLA waste!!!

If you have PLA waste you’re collecting (supports, brims, color change poops, failed prints, old filament) please give it to us. No need to separate by type or color, but please no paint, glue or other contaminants. No fillers or additives like carbon fiber, wood or glow-in-the-dark. PLA only (no PETG, ABS, etc.). Empty spools are welcome too!

We can’t offer much in exchange yet, except our assurance that it’s not going to a landfill, and gratitude for helping us get this endeavor off the ground. If you register, we’ll keep track of your contributions and you’ll get some cool rewards in the future!

If you’re in the area you can drop off anytime at the same location:

Turn off Wagner Rd. along the north side of MI-HQ building 1. Look for the black bin. Deposit your empty spools and bagged or boxed PLA waste inside.
